After qualifying inside the top-ten in eighth place for the opening race of the British Grand Prix last weekend, Jake put on an impressive performance to climb to fourth at the chequered flag and secure his best result of the season to date. The 26-year-old was also able to secure another top-ten finish in the second race with tenth place.
Jake was on strong form all weekend, displaying excellent racecraft to make a number of decisive overtakes on his rivals to gain places and looked set to challenge for the podium in the first race until a safety car denied him the opportunity.
So far this season, Jake has been the de facto leader of the HWA RACELAB team with the Birmingham-based driver scoring more than 75% of the team's total points tally.
Silverstone is one of Jake’s favourite circuits and a track at which the Brit has enjoyed much success with several podiums in European F3 and his title-winning BRDC Formula 4 campaign and is in a strong position to add to that tally once again this weekend.
The track hosted the very first Formula One Grand Prix in 1950 and FIA F3 returns to the circuit on the support bill with F1’s 70th Anniversary Grand Prix for another two races around the 3.661-mile circuit, with the possibility for it to be another hot weekend with temperatures expected to reach in excess of 30º celsius.
“Silverstone is one of my all-time favourite tracks so I’m really pleased we get to do another weekend here. Our pace was strong across the board last weekend and we were definitely in with a shout at a podium so I’m looking forward to having another shot at it. The weather looks to be hot again so we’ll see how that plays out but overall we should be looking at another good weekend.”
