Entering the weekend, Jake’s season thus far had been marred by misfortune ranging from mechanical issues to punctures, meaning the HWA RACELAB driver was determined to put on a strong showing at his home Grand Prix.

Qualifying was a straightforward affair with Jake setting lap times consistently inside the top ten, with his last lap in the dying moments of the session good enough to see him secure a spot on the fourth row of the grid with P8.

In the opening race on Saturday morning, Jake displayed supreme racecraft to carve his way from eighth to fourth with some decisive overtaking the order of the day. Having kept his tyres in much better condition compared to those immediately around him, Jake looked set for a charge to the podium places but a late-race safety car put paid to any hopes of a visit to the rostrum.

With a reverse-grid slot of seventh, Jake was once again set for a strong showing inside the points places on Sunday. What followed was a smooth and consistent drive to hold position for much of the race, with a stunning move on Logan Sargeant around the outside of Stowe corner a highlight of the race. Curtailed by another mid-race safety car concertinaing the pack together once more, Jake kept his nose clean to bring the car home in tenth place and collect a further point to round out his most successful weekend of the season so far.

Returning to Silverstone next weekend for the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, Jake will look to capitalise on the momentum gained this weekend and secure yet more strong results as the season progresses.

“We finally got a clean weekend together and could show what we’re capable of. Two points finishes is a good reward for all the hard work we’ve put in and gives us a good foundation on which to build from. I feel like a podium was definitely on the cards in the first race as I’d made sure to leave some performance in the tyres to push later on but the safety car meant we never got the chance.

In the second race we were there or thereabouts and pulled off a few tidy moves but again the safety car didn't really help us out. From there I lost a few places but still managed to bag that last point.

All in all we can be pleased with how the weekend went and be confident of having another good showing next week too.”
