Hughes set for season finale at Mugello

10-09-20

Jake Hughes heads to the Mugello circuit as the 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship reaches its conclusion in the Tuscan countryside.

Spurred on by his second victory of the season at Monza, Jake arrives in Mugello looking to end the season on a high note following an action-packed two months of racing.

The Brit has visited the circuit once before, at a one-off appearance at last year’s round of the Formula Regional European Championship. During that weekend, Jake finished on the podium in all three races, taking a hat-trick of third-place finishes.

The circuit itself is an old-school 3.259-mile track complete with sweeping corners and undulations that create a challenge for drivers to tackle. With limited overtaking expected, a long DRS zone along the main straight will provide the best chance for drivers to attack and pass their rivals.

Jake and the HWA RACELAB team enter the weekend seventh and sixth in the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships respectively. With a tally of 88.5 points, Jake has scored just over 90% of the team’s total score of 97.5 and taken both of the team’s race victories.

With even hotter weather conditions expected compared to Monza, it will be a demanding weekend for Jake but it’s a challenge he’s looking forward to.

“I really enjoyed the Mugello track when I raced here last year, it’s a really fun circuit for drivers so it’ll be a nice way to end the season. Off the back of Monza, we’re confident as a team that we can end the championship on a high and score another two strong results. It’s been a hectic season fitting it all in to just over two months so I’ll be looking to thank the team for all their hard work in the best way possible.”
