I could have taken pole, I still qualified on the front row, and then I got involved in crashes in both races. I'm sorry and I will learn from it. No points, and the best thing you can say is that the next round at Monza is just five days away…
We're still struggling a bit with starts and my start for race one wasn't great.
'Exiting the corner, there were too many cars on one piece of track so I was out on the spot.'
That meant there were a few of us quick guys starting at the back for race two. I went round the outside of Matt Parry at Les Combes and I stayed on the track on the exit, but I needed him to leave me a little bit more space for the following left-hander without me hitting him, because with the line I was on I was already committed to that space.
Looking at it, you'd say that Spa encapsulates our season. A lot of promise, a lot of pace, yet eighth in the championship – it should be a whole lot better than that. And if we can get those starts right we should be capable of winning every weekend. Let's hope we can sort it for Monza. OK I've got a grid penalty, but it's the easiest circuit to overtake on, and I won there in Formula Renault last season. I just hope we can make the first step there towards finishing the season with the results that our potential merits.
